Female Service Members Receive Unique Care Package this Christmas
Whether you're a female in the military or a female working a nine-to-five job, you're still a woman who appreciates items that make you look and feel beautiful. This Christmas, "
Operation Courage is Beautiful", a StyleSynch initiative in partnership with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3787 and the San Diego Armed Services YMCA
, is making a difference in the lives of our women in the military by giving a little joy and femininity to their service lives. They have shipped approximately 1,000 care packages to women serving in harm's way, to show them how much their courageous service and sacrifice is appreciated. The boxes contain a range of beauty essentials including conditioner, sunscreen, lip balm, and makeup - products that are difficult or impossible to come by in places such as Iraq and Afghanistan.
Here's what one warrior had to say about the package:

Dear Folks - Today I received the best package! I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated the contents. I get lots of mail. But this was the nicest I received since arriving in Kandahar. |

The quality of items was just incredible. I may be a Soldier but I am all female and I know good stuff. Clinique make-up!!!!! OMG!!! I went back to my little living area and just cried. You have no idea how something such as this made me feel so special. Thank you. Thank you.

Military Suicides at Highest Rates; 5 Attempts Every Day
By the end of this month, soldier suicides this year are almost sure to top last year's, with 140 active duty soldiers believed to have died of self-inflicted wounds as of November 16, 2009. These staggering numbers reveal that the military suicide rate is currently higher than the civilian rate for the first time since the Vietnam War.
While the active-duty military force is expanding, the rate of suicides is growing even faster among all four services, likely triggered by the mounting stress service members face with the U.S. deployment in Iraq nearing the six-year mark.
