“I am happy to see more and more women getting involved in leadership roles at the VFW. I believe we have a strong voice and can accomplish a lot.”

VFW Member since: 2006
Residence: Kansas City, MO
Occupation: Director of Human Resources, VFW National Headquarters
Age: 52

I joined the VFW in 2006 and have been very active in my Post. Here, I have been able to connect with other war veterans who share similar experiences. My Post has many dedicated men and women working on behalf of veterans and the VFW, and I am happy to see more and more women getting involved in leadership roles. I believe we have a strong voice and can accomplish a lot. I am proud to say I am a veteran of a foreign war, and even prouder to admit I am a VFW member.

More about me:
I enjoyed traveling while serving in the Army and continue to travel in my free time. I have been to Europe numerous times and all across the United States and Canada. I also enjoy gardening, cooking, and all things related to health and fitness.

Accomplishments:
I deployed to the Persian Gulf with the 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, KS for Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990-91. I now work full time for the VFW National Headquarters and am the first female to ever be appointed as a VFW Director. I am also my Post Commander for 2010-2011.
